Fullback Judd Davies was among those who missed the scrimmage; he was taking a medical school entrance exam. Others missing because of injuries included defensive linemen Le Kevin Smith and Jason Lohr, whose absence provided an opportunity for true freshman Brandon Teamer.

The Omaha Central graduate has been impressive and will not be redshirted. \"He will be a player for us this season,\" said Solich. \"He's a legitimate player. We'll move forward with him.\"

Teamer had the highest performance index in freshman testing last week.

\"I don't know if I can ever remember a defensive lineman having the best performance index,\" defensive line coach Jeff Jamrog said. \"He has the makings of a very special player.

\"Right now we're planning on him playing (without redshirting).\"

For a young player to contribute requires \"a combination of things,\" said Solich. He has to be strong-willed and physically strong, and he had better be able to get himself in condition.

This has me thinking. What the hell is wrong with LeKevin? Lohr will hurt himself as soon as he plays anyway. Isnt Kabongo stepping up? Hello Seppo arent you kicking ass? What the fuck is Binghom doing? Brandon Greeson was supposed to be this big huge badass of a DT.

Teamer may be better than thought of by most fans, but what the fuck are the rest of the DTs doing to let a 270lb freshman likely skip his redshirt?

we have Kabongo and Bingham at NT

and LeKevin and Seppo at DT

after that there hasnt been much talk of anyone... Titus Adams moved to RE, so he is out of the mix.

Also, Kabongo and Bingham are seniors. Perhaps Teamer skipping his redshirt is as much a testament to his ability as it is to the coaches wanting to develop solid depth in the interior DL for next season and the season after...

I dont think that there is any serious problem with LeKevin, probably just a muscle pull or a sprain.
