I've said this for years. If Texas wants to be so fucking high and mighty then why not make their football players pass the same high academic standards as the rest of their general student population. Does anyone think Vince Young would have qualified at UT if wasn't a football player?
I loved the interview with UCLA coach Jim Mora who said that they knew that they could neutralize Tommy Armstrong as a passer but when they saw him at 6 ft 2 inches, 220 lbs from afar at a pre game banquet, they realized that they would not be able to stop him if he ran the ball. Ponder that for a minute....An opposing coach see's him in person for 10 seconds after only watching him on game film and determines that he will kill them if he is allowed to run.
The Husker Coaching staff had 20 game films and 20 spring practices to figure out that he is a "Dual threat" QB, and it takes them 13 games to figure it out? As the Apollo 13 Astronauts stated..."Houston, We've got a Problem."
And when he got hurt, our backup QB couldn't even beat Purdue
we still lost 7 fucking games and it was inexcusable, if Tommy had gotten hurt, those losses then become excusable. IMHO. And I'm sorry for referring to them as losses, I meant to say "almost wins".
