Jahkeem Green one of the top JC prospects signs late to the Huskers.

Nebraska's defensive line was already considered a strength heading out of spring camp, but the addition of Highland (Kansas) Community College defensive lineman Jahkeem Green is likely to make it stronger.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder committed to NU after his official visit, according to one of his junior college coaches, Judd Remmers. Green has not responded to requests for interview or comment from the World-Herald over the last several weeks.

The four-star recruit was considered one of the nation's top junior college prospects for this recruiting cycle, and Green originally committed to South Carolina, which is located in his home state.

Green just didn't sign with the Gamecocks. Nor did he commit to Houston after a recent official visit there.

After two visits to Nebraska, he picked the Huskers. He has two seasons of eligibility left and three years in which to use them, which gives Nebraska flexibility in 2019 to either redshirt Green or add him to a line a rotation that plausibly goes six or seven-deep.

Green had 67 tackles — seven for loss — this season at Highland, which employs former NU tight end Kyler Reed.

Another big boy to reinforce the DLine.  When the offense plays fast, you need big depth on the D to handle extra time on the field.  Hopefully this one works out more like a Daniels than Vai.
