some good news for the program is that with the recent transfers, NU opened up some scholarships for some grad transfers/new recruits.
NU just added OL/DT Vaha Vainuku as a grad transfer from Utah. He went on a Mormon mission out of high school, then got injured and barely played and went on medical schollie at Utah. now he misses the game and wants to get back into it and apparently the medical staff has cleared him to play. he's a 25 year old grown ass man with two years of eligibility remaining and reportedly benches 460 lbs.
My guess is that he'll be slotted in at NT and immediately be in a rotation with Stoltenberg this coming season.
The other addition was JUCO CB Will Jackson. He graduated in May but maybe there was a question regarding if he would graduate or not? not sure there. regardless, he was available, and has 2 years of eligibility left, and NU needs bodies at CB. He originally went to Kentucky and was kicked off the team for some reason. Kid is supposedly a legit 6-3 and almost 200 lbs and is good at press coverage.
I could see him stepping in and immediately competing for a starting CB spot.
In other good news, Breon Dixon got his waiver/request to become immediately eligible granted by the NCAA, so he'll be playing instead of sitting out this coming season. That's huge news because he's probably the only OLB with his skillset of pass coverage, speed, and athleticism. I expect him to be the starter at one of the OLB spots.
