It really pisses me off when lazy fucks don't re-rack the weights after they're done using them.

With all the newbies at the gym this month -- due to the old "I'm-gonna-get-in-shape" New Years resolution -- it's happening way too much.

I may have to punch somebody.

I'm with you man. I just started at a new 24 Hour Fitness out here and I think it should be mandatory that all noobs take a weight room etiquitte class or something. I was in at 5 the other day ( I know, horrible time) and I had one guy bump me while I was laying down with 95lb dumbells and another walk in front of me and force me to back up while holding 60lbers. Are you fucking kidding me? icon_evil.gif
There are offensive geniuses up and down the block, some real and some like Dan Hawkins, who either can't find a quarterback or doesn't recognize one.

what you doing with 95lbs dumbells? just curious...back when I lifted on a more regular, I think I maxed about 70 on the dumbell-bench-press....but those were hard as hell....

And like I'm always telling my son, strive for good technique instead of worrying about how much you're lifting.

the same thing happened to me. except I just started a new 25 hour fitness and it was 4:00. two guys bumped me while I was laying down 150lb dumbells and another walked in front of me and made me back up while I had 120lbers. I told the guy that the F-150 is the greatest truck ever and I only fill'er up for $1.50 a gallon. then I showed him a picture of my wifes titties and told him he was the biggest lost i had ever met. he went in the corner and cried because he knew he would never be me. then i bought the 25 hour fitness and sold it for nice profit. its great being me.

agreed...that's why i would rarely fuck with the 75lbs'ers....mainly stayed around 60-65 for the press...same thing i say to people i've worked out with: you gotta put your pride in your back pocket...people too busy trying to show off, usually get injured...and most always don't get a proper work out

Eh, I'm 26 and I've been in the weight room since I was 13. I was doing dumbell bench press. I've never tried maxing with dumbells because even though I could probably lift them, I'm nervous about trying to get 130lbers in position to even try it.
There are offensive geniuses up and down the block, some real and some like Dan Hawkins, who either can't find a quarterback or doesn't recognize one.

I was a Personal Trainer II at a 24-Hour Fitness until I decided to stop being a used car salesman, put up my own shingle and work with people who are fucking serious about getting in shape. I have my own personal & performance training business now... and life is good.

(Of course, now that word is out that I have my own business, Diggler will try and buy it from me, fire all my Indian employees, and force those that remain to buy F-150's that only run on $1.50 gas. Which, as long as he PM's me pics of the gun control titties <whoever coined that is fucking genius by the way, I don't remember which one of you guys said that> is fine with me.)

Their whole membership business model is based on exactly what you said... each January, a bazillion people will join, more than the gym can hold. Some will get pissed and stop coming because they can't get a machine or treadmill. Seriously, a guy I train said last week he went into a 24-Hour gym and couldn't find ANY open cardio machine on his freaking LUNCH HOUR. Others will last a few weeks and bail because they don't know what they're doing, others for various other reasons. 24-Hour, or any other "national" gym could care fucking less.

They play the numbers... they know that the average membership "lifespan" of a member who joins in January is 70 days. Of course, they have a year's worth of your money, but that's your problem. Hey, that's capitalism and the fact that you won't get your fat ass off the couch isn't their problem. But yea... it's a frustrating couple of months for the serious gym-goer.

well, i actually belong to a fight-gym...i haven't belonged to a traditional gym in probably 5 years or so...just lifting is a little too mundane for me, and doesn't peak my interests as much as i wish it would. so what happens at a fight gym is typically all the people pack the place for the kickboxing classes.....i primarily boxed, but have been taking up kickboxing in order to move to mau tai...so, i'd be trying to go to those jammed-packed kickboxin classes where there are more people than bags....fuck it, i'm starting back up in about 1-2 weeks...things should be good by then...

oh, and prepare for a lashing of posts from Diggler Trump about how shitty you're running your business and how you're too dumb to really run a business and that you're actually just an entry level employee who doesn't own shit and your boss is a fool for hiring you... icon_mrgreen.gif
