Long time no see bitches! What's the good word. Well, my co-worker who just moved to Iowa City and I have had this argument. He really believes that 2001 Miami could beat 1995 Nebraska. I gave him the Blackshirts, the 55-14 average score, the 62-24 drubbing, the RBs...But I want real facts to tell him to stick the canes up his ass.

Anything you guys can do to help would be great. The ninja returns! ninja.gif

Ball control would have doomed the canes, and the 2001 canes never saw a rushing attack like the 95 skers, they also didn't see a defense as good as ours the whole year.

Shit, I don't think 2001 Miami could have even beaten 1995 Florida. Just tell him the 01 canes were lucky to play the Huskers they did. Also remind him, even if the Huskers would have had difficulty with 01 canes D, yeah right, Nebraska could have used Plane boy to come in. But all above are right, the major thing in this argument is 95 Husker D. 2001 Miami would have been crushed.

We all know NU beat four top ten teams and nobody came within two touchdowns of beating them. Many forget that a four loss VT team took Miami deep into the fourth quarter and if I recall would have forced OT had VT's receiver not dropped a sure catch in the endzone. Also, a four loss BC team would have betten Miami had starting RB William Green not missed the game. Even without Green, BC was driving deep in Cane territory with under two minutes remaining and was ready to score the winning touchdown until Ed Reed summoned the Lord Jesus himself who saved Miami's ass. Miami had lots of talent but beat one top ten team and could have easily lost to two four loss teams.
"We don't point the finger around here we point the thumb." Bo Pelini responds after another sluggish offensive performance. Not sure which game since our offense is always fucking awful.

"I think we can be real stout against the run, and I think our secondary is going to be really good. I mean, there's potential for us to have our best defense we've had here." Carl Pelini assesses the 2011 defense during spring ball.

"We play to win Championships. If you don't win a Championship it isn't a successful season." Bo's comments during fall camp 2011.

We didn't win a championship but it isn't always about winning championships." Bo Pelini responds after finishing the season 9-3 and a third place finish in the Legends Division.

"We played sloppy." Bo Pelini responds following 2009 TT, 2009 ISU, 2010 SDS, 2010 A&M, 2010 Holiday Bowl, 2011 CHATT, 2011 Fresno ST, 2011 Wisconsin, 2011 Northwestern, and Michigan 2011.

You night want to add that with the exception of 1 player, every Blackshirt was drafted and played on Sundays. Miami wouldn't have done much against them.

Tanner Farmer - "I don't just want to win a Big Ten championship. I want to win *the* championship. That's my goal. A lot of people say winning the national championship isn't a realistic goal. Well, I'm not about realistic. I want it all. Go big or go home. Thank you."

In total, 27 members from the '95 Huskers played in the NFL.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

And that one player was probably the best of the bunch, all things considered.

Other random facts:
The starting offensive line did not have a holding penalty all regular season. I believe they had one in the bowl game.
The starting offensive line also did not give up a sack all season. The backups gave up a total of 5 iirc.

The offense scored 40+ in 10 of 12 games
They scored 7+ touchdowns -- 49 or more points -- 8 times
They scored 62+ 4 times -- or 1/3 of the games they played, including vs. the team that finished the year #2
The defense never gave up more than 28 points, despite going up against the #2 offense (Florida), the #9 offense (Colorado) and the #18 offense (Kansas St).
[note that I have no idea what Colorado and K St.'s offenses were actually ranked as it is impossible to find stats from that long ago. But that just means your friend will be unable to disprove you)

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am master of my fate and captain of my soul.

God by a field goal.

He has a hell of a leg.

Random stats:
1995 NU

556.3 Yards Per Game
399.8 Rush Yards Per Game
156.5 Pass Yards Per Game
52.4 Points Per Game
13.6 Points Against
38.8 Margin of Victory
3 All-Americans

There are offensive geniuses up and down the block, some real and some like Dan Hawkins, who either can't find a quarterback or doesn't recognize one.
